Something has happened to me in this relationship

Hi! I'm glad you are here

Welcome! You are here to learn a bit more after finding me Psychology Today. High five for doing your research! You are probably looking for a therapist who can help you reconnect with your sense of self, something that has been shaken due to a relationship.

Who do I typically work with?

Anyone impacted by relationships (isn't that all of us?). I work with individuals and couples who want to understand themselves and their relationships more deeply.

Many people I sit with are:

  • recovering from emotional abuse

  • questioning whether a relationship is unhealthy

  • experiencing self-doubt, second-guessing

  • walking on eggshells

  • feeling disconnected from their needs

  • struggling with boundaries

  • trying to regain confidence and agency

  • dealing with a difficult partner, family member, or friend

  • or a couple wanting to work on their own relational pattern

You don't have to arrive with a label for what you are experiencing. Maybe you are wondering whether you're experiencing narcissistic abuse, or maybe you are simply no longer sure what's normal in your relationship. We can explore that together without rushing to a conclusion.

Although much of my work with relationships happens individually, I also work with couples who want to understand the patterns between them, rebuild emotional connection, and strengthen their relationship.

What Working with Me is Like

Effective therapy is about understanding you.

Many of us have spent years trying to change ourselves through willpower, self-criticism, or simply trying harder. Therapy offers something different.

Together, we slow down to understand what your thoughts, emotions, body, and protective patterns have been trying to communicate. Often, understanding creates the conditions for change in a way that force never could.

Sometimes therapy starts with first aid.

You may be here because you are hurting. You are overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, disconnected, or simply exhausted. In those moments, we may first focus on helping you feel a little more grounded and supported.

But once there is a little more space to breath, we can begin to look beneath the symptoms.

You may come to therapy wanting your anxiety, depression, relationship patterns, or attachment difficulties to go away. Those experiences are real, and of course we want to feel better. The deeper work lies in understanding why you are vulnerable to getting stuck in these patterns. This deeper work takes time, it involves getting to know your interior terrain, developing a greater self-awareness, compassion, and ultimately more choice in how you respond to your life.

This is where lasting change can begin.

First aid can help you get through a difficult moment. But if we only treat the symptom, we may find ourselves having to treat the same symptom again and again. Let's get to the root.

Consultation

The consultation is an opportunity to briefly connect, hear a little about what brings you to therapy, and answer questions you may have before deciding whether you'd like to begin.

The first few sessions are really where we begin getting to know each other and figuring out how we can work together. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you need from therapy, we figure that out together over time.

The consultation can help answer questions such as:

If you've found the information you need to make an informed choice, you don't have to book a consultation. Some clients prefer to have a brief meet-and-greet first, while others feel they have enough information and are ready to begin the therapy process. There is no right or wrong choice, please choose what feels best for you.

I Can't Wait to Meet You
